About

This website was created in loving memory of George Melnikoff, a wonderful and talented man whose photography was destined to be his legacy.

George's images represent not only what is stunningly beautiful in the world, but also what is thought provoking, moving and occasionally comical.

George had an artist's eye and a poet's heart. Often his photos were accompanied by a bit of verse or a literary anecdote. He was always willing to bring his viewers behind the lens with him by telling the story of how a particular shot was conceived and what musical, historical or artistic reference influenced it.

George’s photography gained international acclaim when he was featured as a finalist in the 2015 International Juried Exhibition in Carmel, CA. See his shot, "The Stranger", featured here.

George was a highly successful Santa Cruz Open Studios Artist in 2015 and in 2016, shortly before his death.

“I tried for years to get George to create a website so that he could share his work with others”, says his wife, Debbie. “Instead he was happiest spending hours outdoors with his camera finding the next great photo, each with a story to tell.”

Please enjoy his work.
